Problems
As most of my film is shot inside of my house, due to Christmas decorations being put up I am unable to film re-shots of my film inside of my house as the continuity of my film will not be correct, therefore I am unable to re-shoot for about two weeks.
Items to add to The Wrong Turn
As some of my shots are too long and therefore do not give the effect on the audience which I wanted therefore I have decided to use a montage sequence when Alice walks into her kitchen for the first time; I will montage a sequence of usual household appliances in the kitchen.

Voiceover
For the voice over at the start of my opening sequence I want it to be quite mysterious and make the audience ask questions and want to watch the rest of the film.
Possible voice overs at the start of my film are:
I know what I've done and I know what I haven't, other people don't know the true story, them other people only believe what they read in the paper and I don't care what they think because I know the truth I know why I came here ... to start a new life, no, not a new life a new... start. To forget about my past forget what happened and this time do it the only way I know I can... the right way... my way.
While Alice is saying the voice over we will see her car from a long shot and parts of the car and her body and we won't see her face until she comes out of the car completely, when she arrives at her house.
I have also been looking at music to play during the voice-over with lyrics that relate to what Alice is saying; one possibility of this is Lana Del Rey's- Born to Die and what I would play specifically is the verse between 01:37-01:54 when Lana Del Rey sings-

You like
your girls insane
Choose your last words
This is the last time
Cause you and I, we were born to die
I like these particular lyrics as they have hidden meaning in what Alice is feeling as she is saying that she wants to die
Choose your last words
This is the last time
Cause you and I, we were born to die
I like these particular lyrics as they have hidden meaning in what Alice is feeling as she is saying that she wants to die
Another possibility is Lana Del Rey's 'Ride' the part in particular the verse-
I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast
I am alone in the night
Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, but I
I've got a war in my mind
So, I just ride
I am alone in the night
Been tryin' hard not to get into trouble, but I
I've got a war in my mind
So, I just ride
I think this verse fits in perfectly as she sings that she is trying hard not to get into trouble like Alice is also trying not to get into trouble but the voice over suggests that she also doesn't care if she does. I think that when Alice pulls into the driveway of her house and she can then turn off the radio as Lana Del Rey heads into the chorus, as this will be the perfect time to stop the music as we go into a close up of Alice turning off the radio.

New Ideas to add to The Wrong Turn
When Alice is driving the car in the opening sequence of the wrong turn I am going to have music playing which Alice will turn off after she has arrived at her house. The music I am going to play for this is the music from the opening titles of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, and just as the singer starts to sing, this is when Alice will turn the radio off and walk out of her car.
Ideas to add to the third draft of The Wrong Turn 'Taxi Driver'
I have looked at various films to add more shots in the opening sequence to add more shots of Alice's car before we see her come out of her car when she arrives at her house; I have looked at the film Taxi Driver by Scorsese who uses various montage sequences of De Niro’s Taxi which he drives around New York in. This is how I will start the opening sequence with various shots of parts of the car which Alice is driving; as I think this will look effective for the opening sequence.
I will create this shot of the back of the car, but I will have the street sign of the street of which Alice is moving into.
I will also create this shot of the wing mirror, but instead of the rain reflecting on it, I will have various other cars.
Just off the street which Alice is moving into there are various shops, which I will film to create this shot.
I also like this shot of the traffic lights which I will use in the opening sequence of the film but I will show red and green.
I really like these shots of De Niro in the taxi with the reflection of the traffic lights on the windscreen. But as I cannot create this I am going to film a shot of Alice in the car and then a shot of the traffic lights and expose this onto the windscreen so it looks like it is reflecting.
Second Draft of The Wrong Turn
This is my second draft of The Wrong Turn, and there are still slight adjustments I have to change due to various things like, poor camera work, the lighting of the shots are too dark and various other things.
To the start of my film I am going to add some shots of Alice driving the car from a long shot leading to her house, I have watched various clips from films to take ideas from these.
This is a scene from the film Bullitt which has a car chase scene in it. They have used various shots to create the effect which this film has.
.
To create this shot they have used a trailer to shoot. With a set film crew on the trailer to shoot the shot, as well as not having a windscreen of the car, although I do really like this shot it would not be possible for me to re-create this.
This is a 3 and a half minute tracking shot taken from Touch of Evil, the opening scene. The shots which I want to create are 57 seconds to 1:07 wen the camera tracks the car as Alice is driving to the house.
Between 8 seconds and 11 seconds I really like the shot of the road as the car is driving, I am going to try and re-create this in the opening of my film by either film the road while I walk and then speed this up on the edit suite. An alternative for this is placing the camera onto something like a skateboard and tilting the camera down slightly and then moving the skate board down slightly filming this and altering the speed on the edit suite.
Some of the problems are as Alice was walking into her house we did not see her step onto the front step as the next shot is a medium shot of her. Therefore I am going to add a shot of her walking up the front step.
As Alice walks into the house it is too dark and therefore the camera quality looks poor, so I want to re-shoot this. Also to improve the quality of the shot I am going to open the living room door therefore I will need to re-shoot when Alice walks through the living room as the lighting between the shots change; so I will change this and shoot all of these shots again to ensure the lighting is the same.
As Alice opens the door to go through the kitchen, I have made this red so it is like she is entering a danger zone and this red then fades out, although due to the darkness in the room the quality is not perfect so the shot does not looks as good if it was clearer therefore I am going to re-shoot.
After Alice has opened the door to the kitchen I am going to have a montage sequence, shown in the clip below, of household appliances as this shot as she is walking around the kitchen is slightly to long and boring and does not create the effect I wanted it too. Also as I followed Alice around the kitchen and I cut her off from the shot.

Second Draft of The Wrong Turn
This is the second draft of my film The Wrong Turn, I still have parts of my film missing as I wanted to have a voiceover at the start of the film and I have filmed two versions but these do not fit in with what I want my film to achieve and I need to re-do these for the final draft of my film.
Changes I have made to my second draft while editing was when Alice is about to walk into the kitchen I made this fade to a red to show that she is going into a danger zone to show the audience that something bad will happen here later. I like this effect and think it works well with my film although the quality of the camera is not that great and I will re-shoot this to improve on the impact on which this has on the audience.
To improve my film further I will re-shoot when Alice is walking through the living room and up the stairs of her house, as I filmed these parts on different days the lighting is different and this is really recognisable this therefore doesn't look professional and needs to be re-shot
I am also going to make slight changes to the ending as the end speach between Alice and Becky is very un-realistic and will be better if it ends as Alice is running as this will leave the opening sequence on more of a cliff hanger and the audience will want to carry on asking questions as this will leave a larger impact on the audience.

Changes to the Second Draft of The Wrong Turn
Costume Change
Changes I will make to the second draft of my film is the costume of Becky so the continuity is correct. As I am going to change the shot of were Becky and Alice meets, as usually Becky walks out of her house to meet Alice, but as I have had to use two separate houses to achieve this, as Alice walks away she does not walk to the correct house and therefore the continuity is not correct, so to change this I am going to have Becky walking through the street and then sees Alice rather than her walking out of her house. Therefore instead of Becky wearing a jumper, she is going to be wearing a jumper, coat and scarf as this is more natural for someone waking down a street.
A Voice Over
I am going to use a voice over at the start of my film when Alice is driving, to explain her past life and why she is moving to her new house; as this will explain the story more as of yet it is not 100% visible that she is moving into a new house.
Flashbacks
After my first draft of my film I have decided to add flashbacks of the protagonists (Alice) past life as this along with the voice over at the start of the film will explain the story line of her past life more and these shots will fit with the codes and conventions of a thriller genre as I will use the double exposure over them to make them look slightly distorted as well as making them black and white to ensure the audience knows that these are flashback. The first flashback I will use is:

· The second flashback I will use is of Alice looking at the camera screaming and shouting as someone is pulling her down
the stairs. This will be played when Alice hears a noise from her bedroom and starts to walk down the stairs of her house. I will play the flashback as she is halfway down the stairs, and I will then carry on playing the shot of Alice walking down the rest of the stairs.

First Draft of The Wrong Turn
First Draft of The Wrong Turn
Firstly I want there to be a voice over at the beginning of the opening sequence to explain to the audience that Alice is just moving into the house and this is the first time she has been in the house for the first time. As I don’t think you can tell this from the opening sequence.
Re-Shooting
Shot 4 this is where Alice is getting out of her car and is going in the boot of her car to get her suitcases out. To reduce the length of this shot as it drags on and I think the audience will get bored as they are watching it, instead of this I will use various types of shots for example I will use a close up of her feet when she is getting out of the car, and a close up of her keys when locking the car door.
Shot 8&9 as this is quite jumpy when we see Becky walking out of her house to meet Alice. As we first see Becky walking out of her house and then we see her walking over to Alice but we never see her walking up to Alice, we just see her in the next shot talking to her, therefore this needs to be re-done. There are also continuity problems when we see Alice waking away from Becky heading in the direction to go into her house; as we never see Alice walk up to the door of her house we only see her opening the door in the next shot, therefore I will re-shoot this to resolve the continuity problems.
Shot 20&21 as it is quite dark and therefore the picture looks bad quality and I need to re-shoot this to solve this problem.
Shot 23&24 is bad continuity to the lack of natural lighting in the room and jumps as Alice is walking through the living room.
Shot 27&28 on this shot we do not see Alice walking through her living room door to head up the stairs we only see her walking up the stairs so therefore the continuity in this shot needs to be improved.
Shot 29 as Alice has just walked up the stairs and looks over the banister the shot is too short and does not create the same effect as it would if it was longer.
Shot 35&36&37 between shot 36 and 37 the continuity is not correct as of the way she stands up from having been sat down, as in this shot Alice does not look scared enough after having heard this noise and therefore neither does the audience, so I will re-shoot this to create more tension as Alice goes and investigates the noise she has just heard.
Shot 43 after this shot when Alice is walking around the living room I have diegetic sound playing to scare the audience and to make them tense of what is going to happen next. But here I am going to re-shoot and make Alice look around the living room and kitchen so she looks like she is looking worried and looking were the noise has come from.
I will also have flashbacks shown at various points in the film of Alice in her past, this is so the audience can see more of the protagonists past and know what she has gone through and feel more symathetic towards her. This will also add to the thriller codes and conventions.

I am going to re-shoot the end speech between Alice and Becky as it is quite dark and has too many shots of them together where I want them to be close-ups, so the audience can relate to the characters more.

Weekly Post
I have decided this week when finishing the first draft of my film, The Wrong Turn I am going to show flaskbacks throughout my film. I have decided to do this to use more of the horror codes and conventions and make the storyline of my film progress in the opening sequence, this is so the audience will know more about the protagonist, her past life and why she has moved away.

Possible Music for The Wrong Turn
Possible sounds effects and music that I could have throughout my film is:
The 28 weeks later famous music. I could use this when Alice has just heard the noise from her bedroom and walks down the stairs as it is tense music which is leading to something bad happening.
The Inception main theme tune; I am going to play this underneath the voice over from Alice as she is driving to her house, as it is quite calm but you can tell that there is something behind the music.
The first 30 seconds of The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack, I could play this when Alice is running through the street after seeing someone in her garden.

Storyboard
When looking at my storyboard as a whole, I realise that I have a lot of shots which are repeated and this may look quite repetitive when filming, this is something I will look at when I am shooting. But I think all of the other shots will work well together.
