The Wrong Turn Anamatic
This is my anamatic, this is going to help me see were I need more shots when shooting my film to help with the continuity of my film. This anamatic is only 2:04 long as well and it has to be between 3 and 5 minutes so when filming I will ensure my shots are longer; my film will also be longer when I add more shots to help with the continuity.

Aims + Context
For my fm3 creative project, I am going to produce a sequence from my film The Wrong Turn; the genre is the thriller genre and I hope to use the codes and conventions. This is to appeal to my target audience of 16-24 year old females.
My aim will be to introduce the learning about the creation of meaning by the use of micro-features of narrative, editing and cinematography. I will explore the codes and conventions and use the stylistics to sympathise for the protagonist, set up tension and create narrative disruption.
In order to fulfil this I have been studying films such as The Ring and Taxi Driver which has given me ideas that I can use in my own film.
I will edit, direct, write and produce all of my film.

This week I have been producing my storyboard for my film as
well as my script and screenplay, I have finished my script and screenplay and
I have started drawing the shots for my storyboard. While writing this I have
realised that a lot of shots are needed for what I want as I want to ensure all
of the shots are fluent and the continuity of the film is correct.

Audience
The Audience for my film is the mainstream audience, the ages between 15-24 as this will be the ages of people that can relate to what the protagonist in my film is going through. The certificate for my film would be a 15 because of the tense scary scenes in parts of The Wrong Turn that could scare the younger audience; my film would be mainly aimed at girls and women as they are more sympathetic to women who are in stress during and therefore will feel more pain towards the protagonist.

Choice of Film Name
The Wrong Turn
My film is called The Wrong Turn this is because the protagonist Alice has taken ‘the wrong turn’ in life as she gets too involved in things that do not concern her which puts her life at risk but also has benefits as putting herself in danger also saves other people.

Evaluation of Maltese Falcon Reconstruction
The things that went well with our film project is the lighting in the shots as this
was something we tried to focus on the most to match the shots of the original Maltese Falcon. One example of this is the shot been behind a window; we
knew that this would be a hard shot to shoot due to the back lighting we tried to avoid this by
not using hardly any natural light and focusing on light through other windows
in the classrooms and light sources, to ensure there was not any back lighting and all the actors in the film was visible.
I also thought that our framing of the shots worked well because we took time and looked back at our storyboard and the original film to ensure we could get almost the exact same framing when re-creating the film.
I will also make sure that when I shoot my own film I will not work in such a large group as this proves to be unreliable when specific people are needed for a certain shot and are not in the lesson, I will therefore ensure that my own film does not have as many characters in it to ensure that I can rely on everyone.
Overall I think our end project went well, even though we had minor set backs which I have previously discussed. Our final film looked like what we had hoped for in the 2 weeks which we had to do all of the planning and shooting. It has taught me that I need to plan a lot more efficiently when it comes to my own film and that this will save a lot of time and I will produce a better finished project.
I also thought that our framing of the shots worked well because we took time and looked back at our storyboard and the original film to ensure we could get almost the exact same framing when re-creating the film.
A big problem with making this film was we underestimated
how much little things could take up valuable time that we could spend shooting our film, for example finding the blue tack to stick the
‘Spade and Archer’ sign onto the window, as we wasted about 10 minutes trying to find this, something which wouldn’t
of happened if we had planned this better. Something else which then also took a lot of time was when other members of the group forgot there script and we then had to take time to re-print the script again which the resulted in us loosing more time for filming our film which resulted in us not being able to shoot the entire film sequence.
Another large problem we faced was continuity, as in some
one hour lessons we realised that after setting up the scene and getting the
camera in the correct place for framing we did not have a long time to shoot the actual
film, especially when we did not have study periods after our film lessons,
that is why in various parts of the film the costume, hair styles and the
places of were the film is shot changes. This is something I will focus more on
when shooting my own film as I will start shooting early to ensure that the
shots flow and are unnoticeable that they are shot on different days (if this
is needed). I will also make sure that when I shoot my own film I will not work in such a large group as this proves to be unreliable when specific people are needed for a certain shot and are not in the lesson, I will therefore ensure that my own film does not have as many characters in it to ensure that I can rely on everyone.

How I will use The Wanderer Story Type
I am going to use The Wanderer in my opening sequence as the
protagonist has moved away from her old neighbourhood to escape from her past
of getting too involved in crimes she tries to solve and she has moved away as
she is putting herself in danger. She has also moved away as she is studying
criminology at university. In trying to get over her past secret are revealed in
her new home when she is trying to overcome her old problems.

The Ring Opening Sequence
I have used this as inspiration for my film as in the opening sequence the television appears to keep switching on by itself, when this happens Gore Verbinski uses a range of close ups and medium shots and typical scary sounds to make the audience scared and build up tension, this is also what I want to create in the opening sequence of my film.

Maltese Falcon Group Project
This week we have been told to re-create a clip of the film
‘Maltese Falcone’ this is going to be the opening sequence which is six minutes
in length, we will use props to create this genre of this film and so the scene
looks like the setting from the original film. I am working in a group of 4
people (including myself) various jobs in which we have in our group consist
of-
Jasmine Davies
Jasmine Davies is going to be an actress in the film called Effy, Jasmine will also do some of the editing.
Harriet Harrison
Harriet is going to find the script used in the original film and then change it slightly to fit better with our film, Harriet will also find the appropriate props to re-create this scene from the film, which include a telephone, suits that the male actors work. And Harriet will also do some of the editing of our film.
Chloe Caroll
Chloe is going to be an actress in our film playing the women who is speaking to spade and archer throughout the shot as well as doing some of the editing of out film.
Hollie Andrews (myself)
I will create the storyboard for the film so that when we
come to the filming of the film, we will then exactly know what shots we need
to take, the order of them and who needs to be in which shot. I will also do
some camera work as our group have decided to take this in turns, so we all
know how to work the camera more when shooting our own film. We have all also
decided to share the editing so we all know how the editing software works. Jasmine Davies

We also had an extra in our film to play Spade as we knew
that the film would look better if we had a male protagonist as this is who in
the film.
We hope to have all of the filming finished in the first week
and focus on the editing during the second week as we realise that editing
takes a long time and we will also come during our free periods and lunch time
if we fall behind with this.
